Simchat Torah.jpg

Simchat Torah falls in the Hebrew calendar on 22 TIshrei.

  • Simchat Torah (translated as “happiness of the Torah") is the rabbinic holiday celebrating the Torah. On this day, we recite the final verses of D’varim (Deuteronomy) and begin the first verse of Bereshit (Genesis), demonstrating the unending cycle of Torah in our lives.

  • Customs here at Temple Tiferet Shalom include:

    • Holding a festive service during which the entire Torah is unrolled

    • Celebrating our beginning Religious School students with Consecration
