“May their memory be for a blessing.”
"These words are . . . deeply meaningful because of the role that memory plays in Jewish tradition. Jews are encouraged to regularly and actively engage with our individual and collective memories through stories, rituals, and education. These memories are a powerful way to strengthen our Jewish identities, stay connected to our history and community, and shape the future of our lives and our people. By saying, 'May their memory be for a blessing,' we’re not just suggesting that the memories of a loved one may help the mourners navigate a difficult time. Rather, we’re hoping that their memories will continue to be a source of comfort, connection, and inspiration for years and generations to come." --PJ Library
Purchasing a digital memorial plaque is a great way to support the temple as you honor the memory of your loved ones.
For many years, it's been a common Jewish tradition to honor the memory of a loved one who has passed away by having a plaque made. Here at TTS, we have two beautiful electronic memorial boards in our sanctuary. One contains the entire library of plaques, which are arranged alphabetically and which scroll continuously. This board is also interactive and can be searched for names. The other is for the current week's yahrzeits, which display automatically during the week of the actual date of passing. This tradition not only helps to keep the memory of loved ones alive, but also acts as a fundraiser for the temple. If you would like to order a plaque, consider these options:
